The above quotes influence my views on leadership by touching on some core issues that have come to permeate on the leadership styles that the modern society leaders must possess. Indeed, as Gilder (2012) observes the twentieth century was about moving people but the twenty first century is about moving people. In that regard, no leader may move people without empowering them. Leaders need to change the world view of their subordinates, so as to align them with aspects that drive success in the twenty first century.

The empowerment not only involves getting subordinates involved in decision making processes within the organization, but emphasizing and making them feel appreciated in the organization. This may involve use of tools such as delegation and competitive benefit package that motivate the employees, in case of corporate leadership.  As Covey postulates in his quote, empowered organizations are those with workers who have skills, and knowledge that not only drives them to personal success but also organizational success.
